HAPPY SPRING, IT IS FINALLY HERE!

Old Man Winter can leave a lot of damage on your lawn, on your trees and shrubs.  Goodbye snow, hello Spring! It is always a pleasure to welcome Spring!  To help welcome warm weather, we are planning ahead to jump start your lawn to keep it looking it’s best.

Spring clean-ups, core aeration, dethatching, lawn renovation and of course our fertilization programs are all ways to make your lawn beautiful. New this year is our bed maintenance program and our tree and shrub care program.   Enjoy the beauty of spring!!!

WHAT DOES YOUR LAWN NEED NOW?

Snow and dampness can cause snow mold.  Snow mold appears as a matted down grass that is brown.  It does not kill the grass most of the time.  You can lightly rake up the matted down areas of grass to get some air circulation.  We can core aerate the lawn which would help to get air and fertilizer to the roots.  Most often with proper fertilization, the lawn will recover without doing any reseeding.  Please call Jump Start Lawncare, Inc. at (440)235-9694 or email us @ jumpstartlawncare@yahoo.com  if you have any questions.

To help prevent snow mold next year, your last grass cutting should be short.  All leaves should be removed from your lawn before the first snowfall.

MOWING TIPS:

The cutting of grass is one of the most important cultural practices in taking care of your lawn.  Higher mowing height of 3 inches or higher promotes a deeper root system, it also crowds out weeds, keeps the lawn cooler during the summer months, and requires less watering.  When mowing, never cut more than 1/3 of the grass blade.  A dull mower blade will weaken the grass by shredding the tip of grass blades and making it more susceptible to diseases and insects.  Keep you mower blade sharp to get a clean cut to help prevent disease and insects.

GOLD PROGRAM VS. STANDARD PROGRAM

GOLD PROGRAM consists of preventive grub control applied once per year that will eliminate grubs eating the roots of your lawn guaranteed.  Preventive surface insect control application once per year will help to keep chinch bugs, sod webworms, ants, ticks, and fleas out of your lawn.  We also recommend that core aeration be done in the spring or fall to prevent thatch build-up, stimulate growth, and to allow fertilizer, air and water to get down into the soil by the root zone.  Thatching can also be done it the thatch in your lawn exceeds 1 inch in the spring or fall.

Our GOLD PROGRAM consists of 5 applications of balanced dry fertilizer, pre-emergent crabgrass control, broad leaf weed control, grub control, surface insect control, core aeration or thatching.

Our STANDARD PROGRAM has 5 applications of balanced dry fertilizer, pre-emergent crabgrass control, broad leaf weed  control.

Spring & Fall is the Best Time to Improve Turf Density

Core Aeration

Core aeration combined with overseeding allows good seed to soil contact which helps with germination.  Over time your soil becomes compacted, leaving the subsoil undesirable for healthy lawn growth.

Slice seeding

It replaces thin turf with new improved better grasses, cutting grooves/lines about ¾ inches deep into the soil and dropping new seed. Some yard never have thick green turf because of the grass planted.
